Experience a cycling journey like no other through the majestic landscape of the Swiss Alps! Join us as we travel from Italy into Switzerland-taking in the most spectacular scenery you have ever seen! Imagine cycling over the Passo San Bernardino, Gotthardpass, Furka and Grimsel. Overnights include the charming village of Tiefencastel plus the alpine hamlets of Ilanz & Andermatt. Every day will be yours to do just as you like, always at your own pace and always with Breaking Away at your side!


Daily Itinerary


July 5th: Depart the USA for Italy.

July 6th: Welcome to Milan! Airport pickup and then you’ll check-in to our local 4-Star hotel. After our mechanics help you build your bike you can either relax by the pool or go into downtown Milan for great sightseeing or shopping. Join us at our “Welcome Meeting & Group Dinner” later this evening and meet your fellow guests and indulge in a meal of fine Italian cuisine & wine.

July 7th: A morning van transfer takes us past Lake Lugano and into pristine Switzerland. You’ll cycle through a picturesque alpine valley before the road starts to climb the scenic Passo San Bernardino! Enjoy lunch at the top before a twisty descent along the glorious Hinterrhein River. We'll spend two nights in the mountain village of Tiefencastel with a delicious group dinner tonight of local Engadin specialties.

July 8th: Enjoy an amazing cycling loop that begins with the serpentine Abdulapass. Have lunch in the famous resort of St. Moritz before your finishing climb of the Julierpass!

July 9th: After a filling buffet breakfast that includes a cup of genuine swiss hot chocolate, we'll ride past a series of high alpine lakes before a thrilling decsent. We then get to ride through the thrilling Gorges of Versam on our way to the hamlet of Ilanz.

July 10th: Today's ride has some of the most fantastic panoramic vistas you've ever experienced as we ride over the scenic Lukmanierpass and then the cobbled old road over the Gotthardpass! We'll overnight in the mountain village of Andermatt in a deluxe hotel set in the shadows of the Swiss Alps. Our group dinner will include local cheeses, goulash soup and roasted chicken with saffron sauce.

July 11th: An epic day, straight out of the Tour de Suisse- A loop that entails three climbs: The Sustenpass, Grimselpass and the Furka! Choose one, two or all three with the help of our support vehicles. Later, stroll Andermatt's cobbled streets with its shopping, outdoor cafes and charming buildings.

July 12th: Our final riding day has us cycling another majestic route that includes the eastern approach of the Furka Pass plus the Nufenen Pass. The views at the top are unreal - you'll feel like you are on top of the world! After lunch in Airolo, we'll van transfer back into Italy to our Milan airport hotel. Late afternoon airport or train station shuttles or you can stay an optional night and have one final farewell Italian dinner. Shuttle service tomorrow morning as well.
